The qualifications are made up of a broad range of units covering skills in six core areas – working with people, managing yourself and personal skills, providing direction, facilitating innovation and change, achieving results, and using resources. The flexibility in unit choice allows the qualification to be tailored to meet the needs of the individual and employer
Each unit in this qualification focuses on a specific set of skills and knowledge, in six broad areas:
Working with people – a range of units including how to deal effectively with stress and conflict, manage remote workers, build excellent customer relations
Managing yourself and personal skills – including units that focus on assessing your own leadership performance and developing critical thinking
Providing direction – such as leading teams to achieve organisational goals and objectives and making strong and informed management decisions.
Facilitating innovation and change – for example, build a culture of continued improvement, and lead people through change
Achieving results – such as managing for efficiency and effectiveness, and managing projects that get results
Using resources – including managing facilities and managing information.
Just a few lines to thank the team at St Johns Mill for looking after us all so wellRay Ferguson - Quality Manager, Isle of Man Ship Registry
during our team training day. Following last year’s visit the team were eagerly anticipating
their return and they were certainly not disappointed. The Mill provides a fantastic escape
from the office into surroundings that create a sense of calm and relaxation where we always
seem to be that bit more creative. The buffet lunch was perfect and set us up for the afternoon
activities. Definitely back again next year if not before!
“If you are looking for a venue to hold a training event (or meeting) on island then I can whole-heartedly recommend St Johns Mill. We have used St John’s as the venue for Institute of Directors training, delivered by Salford University, for a number of years. The delegates attending these courses have high expectations and St John’s has not disappointed. There is a choice of training rooms, relaxing break-out spaces – and utterly delicious home-made food. The Mill surroundings are beautiful, and visible from the training rooms, and in the summer it is possible to use the garden space. The location is easily accessible from all parts of the island and the large car park completes the picture.Alison Kennedy, Director, Institute of Directors Programme, Salford University
From a trainers view-point the venue is excellent as helpful and friendly staff are on hand throughout the day to deal with any needs that might arise.
And from a procurement viewpoint St John’s offers excellent value for money, with any surplus generated being ploughed into activities which enhance the lives of the wider Manx community.
I hope you will consider using St Johns.”
Thanks to David and the fabulous team at St John's Mill Conference Centre for looking after. A L7 coaching study session/ CPD for some of our Isle of Man coaches. #raisingthebar Perfect venue.Jane Harders, Portfolio
What a triumph with the room layout for our first session with so many folk last night! The visual effect was a beautiful patchwork...Each small group area was comfortably intimate and somehow still open and accessible for mingling. Plus everyone was able to view the presentations comfortably.Gill Poole, Diocese of Sodor and Man, Feb 2016
Please pass on our thanks to Sarah & Steve for the buffet lunch that was provided yesterday. It was greatly enjoyed and appreciated by everyone. We were well set up for the visit we made to the Kipper Yard in Peel. We have now had 2 good meals at the Mill, and I am sure we will make use of the facilities again in the future.Ian Wells, Ramsey Probus
Thank you to everyone - the group had a very successful course and everyone loves the venue. It's one of the nicest places I've ever run training - it's calm and has a great vibe - very conducive to learning. And fabulous support and care from the team. We all return home a few kilos heavier however! Thanks to the fabulous food and cake!Janet Gordon, Blue Starfish Consulting
