The Power of Water
There will be tea, coffee and a selection of the Mills delicious home-baked cakes available throughout the day with donations divided between St John’s Mill and Care for the Family.
The water wheel will be running and there will be volunteers available to briefly explain the operation of the water wheel and historic 1816 tweed milling hammers.
There will be a small exhibition of work by local artists on display and for sale in the Wheel Room.
10.30 – 14.30 Manx Guild of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers demonstration. - Classroom
11.00 Presentation on the history of the Mill and the Manx woollen industry. (20-30mins) - Wheel
11.30 The work and ministry of St Johns Mill today. (15mins) - Quiet Room
12.00 Short walk through wildlife garden and woodland to the weir and head of the Mill race. (Weather permitting)
13.45 Presentation on the history of the Mill and the Manx woollen industry. (20-30mins) – Lecture Room
14.15 The work and ministry of St Johns Mill today. (15 mins)
14.30 - 15.30 Pat Kelly & Jane Linnemann demonstration of handloom weaving. - Classroom
